2016: Day 16

Tonight we found the local "Christmas house" with lights synced to music.

We finished up the Christmas cards, read a few Christmas books, and sang off-key Christmas carols.

2016: Day 13-15

We took a couple of days to make gingerbread houses.

2016: Day 12

Our silly elves took it upon themselves to cover our house with strands of snowflakes.

We love it so much.

Today we were asked to call a friend or family member who is far away to let them know we are thinking of them. Alaina asked to call Nana. I also contacted my best friend to wish her a happy birthday. 

We also went back to OSU for milk & cookies with Santa. I had to steal a bit of milk from school so that A could have soy milk. We ran into a friend from her class, so that made the wait to see Santa so much better. 

I was informed by A on the drive over that she was not interested in sitting in Santa's lap. After waiting in line and seeing her friend visit Santa, A ran for cover. However, after watching for a moment, we asked if she would like to go hide behind Santa and sneak out for a photo. She thought that was the greatest idea ever and totally hammed it up. I will post those pictures (along with the Sensitive Santa ones from yesterday) once they arrive! She is SUCH a little ham.

2016: Day 11

The ratio was definitely off for the snow dough yesterday so we had to keep working at it. Hopefully it's better today. I can't handle the corn starch all over the kitchen!

We went back to OSU's Sensitive Santa event, hosted by Mya's Promise. It's a fun experience where kids can decorate cookies, drink hot chocolate, listen to carolers, and craft while waiting for their turn to see Santa. Fashion forward A insisted on wearing bows of two different colors.

She had mentioned that she really wanted to see Santa so that she could tell him she has a Santa/Rudolph stocking this year. However, she was not sure about actually sitting with him. This year, he was very kind and came over to her to give her some time to warm up. She was willing to check out his reindeer bells and I think we will get a good picture from it, when those are edited.

We also went to the post office to pick up holiday stamps. We are still waiting for our Christmas cards to arrive. We can't wait for you to see them!

2016: Day 10

Today we began wrapping some presents and made snow dough!

Once again, sensory experiences are not for the faint of heart.

I'm a sucker for a cute kid with good logic. When A put in all the work helping with the cookies, candy, and pie, she asked where it was going. She convinced me that she should also go to the holiday party. So I picked her up at lunch and brought her with me. She had a lot of fun. She won't talk to people in public anymore but it was very clear she had a blast. She was sad we didn't win a prize so she 'borrowed' a Santa hat from a student whose candy won. I'm still working on her to give it back. ;) This is the type of thing that is good in theory but as I am cleaning spilled soda off of the rug and wiping the chocolate handprints off of my leggings and dress, I wonder why I said yes!
