October 2015 Fix Review: Box #3

Stitch fix has become my favorite cardboard box, which is saying a lot given our love affair with Amazon Prime. 

This month, I had a new stylist and she delivered some lovely items. I again indicated that I am interested in professional clothes--blazers, dresses, and maybe a fun necklace. 

I have had a different stylist each month and I haven't yet requested to keep one, just because I have been curious what new people will send. This month's fix was fun but not quite as exciting as the first two and the note was definitely less personalized. Again, though, it is incredibly impressive to me that they are able to ever get anything right given how little time they have to spend on each customer. And they do extremely, extremely well.  Maybe one day soon I will post pictures actually trying on the clothes but for now, this will do!

The Tart Blithe Chevron Knit blazer was pretty interesting. It was one of the softest pieces of clothing that I have worn and it was not structured like a usual blazer. However, the back was a different pattern from the front, which I didn't love. Also, I already have a gray blazer from Loft so I probably don't need another one anyway, especially for the cost.

The Papermoon Myra blouse was similar to the roll tab blouse I received in the last fix. This is a really flattering cut and can be dressed up or dressed down. I highly recommend it!

I was not a fan of the Sabrina Yoke Detail Blouse. It felt funny and the fit was really off. This one was sent back without any regret.

Finally, the last item was the 41Hawthorn Finola dress. It was a great dress--navy/black and a really good cut and very professional. The fit wasn't great for me but I might be willing to try it again in the future.

Pumpkin-palooza

If we are friends on Facebook, you probably could have guessed this post was coming (make sure to scroll to the end for a Halloween tradition and A's adorable take on it). Miss A and I have been making the rounds at pumpkin patches and farms over the last week. The weather has been amazing and they are just so fun and interesting. And it gives us something fun to get us out of the house on the weekends...The bummer is that so far, I haven't seen any of the apple cider doughnuts so many of my friends have posted about recently. The closest apple orchard is more than 2 hours away so I doubt we will get to try them this year.

It has been interesting to see how everyone defines "pumpkin patches." First, we went with cousin Avery, Aunt Kris and Uncle Neil to Myriad Gardens Pumpkinville which boasted more than 3,000 pumpkins and lots of fun activities. The win here was the sheer volume of pumpkins and the aesthetically pleasing presentation.

Next, we convinced some friends to go with us to Grider Farms pumpkin patch. Spoiler alert: this was totally my favorite. Going out to cut pumpkins off the vines was so much fun for me. Miss A was a bit grumpy because she was hungry but once she had a snack, she got pretty into it for a short amount of time. I definitely want to make this an annual tradition.

Kid got some serious air here.

 

On Sunday we went back to Rockin' Star Farms. Each year we go to their fall and winter events. Miss A likes to be able to run around freely as much as her little legs can carry her.

 

The last fun thing we did this weekend was deliver our "Boo" bags. Our neighborhood has a tradition of leaving surprise bags of treats on neighbor's doors. I was shocked how into this A was. I wish I had videoed this whole process because it was adorable. I let A pick the three houses where we were leaving the bags and then she was to quickly and quietly place it by the front door before moving onto the next house. She literally tiptoed down the sidewalk from house to house and kept shushing me. She would say "shhhhhhhh. I have a secret. I be quiet and fast. shhhhhhhh." 

When complete, for each house, she would come back with her arms raised stage whispering "yea! I did it!" I thought I might die from the cuteness.

We also gave a few friends bags, too. However, by this point, A was getting pretty tired so she asked to take a break on the way home (4 breaks to be exact). She wanted me to carry her and her bicycle all the way home but I wasn't thrilled by that suggestion so I relented to the breaks.

So now we have all of these pumpkins and we aren't quite sure what to do with them! Give us some suggestions and I'll post pictures of our attempt/fails! And if anyone knows where we can find apple cider doughnuts, we would love to have that information, too! :)
