Sweet A loves her birthday more than most anyone (kids included) that I know. She came up with a mermaid-pirate theme for her seventh birthday. She has loved being involved in the planning since her fourth birthday but this year, she was not only involved, she wanted to do all the things. If she had her own Pinterest account and could order things online, she might not have let me help at all.
She helped create the menu (she vetoed the hot dog pirate ships in favor of pizza; probably for the best but they sure were cute), picked the decor, and wanted to write all the labels and make all the decor.
Her party had so many of her favorite activities--face painting, art, bouncy castle, and eating with friends.
The painting was a little intense and lasted a little longer than expected. Planning a party for dinner time on Friday meant the kiddoes were starting to get distracted and/or meltdown. Fortunately, there was plenty of space to run around for those that needed it.

Sweet girl was so incredibly grateful to have so many wonderful friends attend and she received so many great gifts.
Overall, she described the day as "the best day ever". She started with presents at breakfast.
She got to stand up in her school's assembly with all the students who had birthdays this week. When we talked about it in the afternoon she said it was "cool" but she was "a little scared". She said that because there were so many people sitting around her, it made her a little uncomfortable.
She requested that I bring her McDonald's for lunch.
We also came back at school snack and got to see her class sing happy birthday to her and fifth graders came in and read her poetry.
Her party was so much fun but the day just about exhausted us! Because the party was starting to go downhill, we opted to open presents at home. She opened a few Friday night and the rest this morning. We could not believe that, despite going to bed around 10:30pm, she was up before 7am. However, she had plenty to keep her entertained all day while I tried to begin getting our house back in order!
